A Medication Care Coordinator works with all points of contact in a pharmacy to improve overall patient experience and medication-related outcomes. This includes clinical providers, pharmacists, clinicians, insurance companies, and consumers. Some days you may work in more of a pharmacy technician role. On other days you may need to connect with individual patients to ensure they are following their drug plan accordingly.
- Understand basic human anatomy and utilize medical terminology in a healthcare facility
- Comply with HIPAA/HITECH, OSHA, CMS and other healthcare regulations and laws
- Obtain patient information, verify insurance, file medical records and perform other office procedures
- Understand the different roles of the pharmacy technician within various pharmacy organizations
- Verify medication orders, calculate and measure dosage, and prepare and package medications

Take your healthcare career to the next level with our online Medication Care Coordinator program. We’ve carefully developed this 24-week program and compiled five courses to provide you the best career training experience.
Our Medical Office Procedures and Administration and Microsoft Office Word and Excel Levels 1 and 2 courses will ensure you have the customer service, software, and clerical base needed to interact with customers, healthcare workers, and insurance companies.
The Pharmacy Technician Principles and Practices course, combined with the Introduction to Human Anatomy and Medical Terminology, teaches you the essentials of being a certified pharmacy technician. You’ll become familiar with the language of medicine and learn prescription processing, pharmacy nomenclature, biopharmaceutics and drug activity, dosage calculations, common mathematical formulas and conversions, and more.
Once you’ve completed the Medication Care Coordinator program, you’ll be eligible for the Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT) and Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) exams, both sponsored by the NHA.
